Web Operations Associate
Position Overview
The Web Operations Associate is responsible for supporting the technical integrity, maintenance, and optimization of our headless JAMStack environment. This role is a hybrid of hands-on execution and vendor management: you will directly handle frontend updates and portal configurations while acting as the technical liaison for 3rd-party partners on larger builds.
Working closely with the Marketing Director, this associate will oversee the flow of data between systems (Salsify, Ultra Commerce), manage customer portals, and coordinate code releases. Uniquely, this role offers access to advanced AI development tools, allowing the associate to audit external code, accelerate their own coding skills, and automate routine workflows.
Key Responsibilities
- Frontend & Portal Management (Hands-On)
- Direct Website Updates: Execute routine frontend code changes (HTML, CSS, JavaScript) to improve UI/UX, landing pages, and site styling without always requiring a full external deployment cycle.
- Ultra Commerce Portals: Manage and configure the Ultra Commerce portals, ensuring B2B/Dealer dashboards, pricing rules, and customer access levels are functioning correctly.
- Site Optimization: Proactively identify and fix visual bugs or layout issues across desktop and mobile to maintain a high standard of digital quality.
Vendor & Deployment Management
- External Partner Liaison: Act as the primary technical point of contact for 3rd-party development agencies, translating business goals into clear technical tasks and validating their work before release.
- Release Coordination: Manage the deployment schedule on Vercel, coordinating with external developers to ensure code pushes in GitHub are reviewed, tested, and deployed during appropriate windows.
- Code Auditing: Serve as the final gatekeeper for major site updates, reviewing vendor pull requests to ensure they meet quality standards before going live.
Data & Content Operations
- PIM Management: Manage product data flows from ERP systems (SAP/Epicor/AS400) into Salsify, ensuring data accuracy before it is syndicated to the commerce platforms.
- Asset Optimization: Oversee digital asset organization within Cloudinary (DAM), ensuring external developers have the correct assets and that media is optimized for web performance.
- Content Management: Manage content via Kontent.ai (CMS), ensuring marketing updates are reflected accurately on the live site.
Analytics & Compliance
- Tagging & Tracking: Maintain the implementation of Google Tag Manager and Google Analytics, working with developers to ensure data layers are correctly configured.
- Compliance: Monitor user privacy compliance tools (OneTrust) to ensure external partners are adhering to privacy standards in their code.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Marketing Technology, or a related field.
- 1–3 years of experience in web operations or frontend development.
- Strong working knowledge of HTML, CSS, and basic JavaScript is required.
- Experience configuring eCommerce platforms, specifically portals or B2B environments (experience with Ultra Commerce is a major plus).
- Familiarity with GitHub workflows (Pull Requests, Branches) and Vercel deployments.
Skills & Competencies
- Technical Independence: Ability to fix minor frontend issues and configure backend portals without waiting for external help.
- Technical Translation: Ability to translate "marketing speak" into technical requirements for developers, and "dev speak" into updates for stakeholders.
- Project Coordination: Strong organizational skills to track external vendor progress and hold them accountable to timelines.
- Adaptability: Eagerness to utilize provided AI tools to accelerate coding tasks and automate portal management workflows.
What Success Looks Like
- Routine website updates and portal configurations are handled internally with speed and accuracy.
- Deployments on Vercel are executed smoothly with zero unplanned downtime.
- 3rd-party developers have clear direction, reducing back-and-forth communication.
- The Associate successfully adopts AI tools to automate at least one major recurring workflow within the first 90 days.
