Job description: Responsible for leading the Tooling Department in the construction of production molds, mold accessories, mold maintenance and repairs. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Construct pattern molds from wood, bando and other various materials per plans, blueprints, or drawings. Build production tools using basic tooling principles including waxing, gel coat, release agents and FRP laminate material. Some welding is required for production mold frames. Mix and apply materials as needed; requires thorough understanding of resin, catalyst, glass and bando mixing ratios and application techniques. Alter and maintain production molds using hand tools including sanders, grinders, saws, shaping tools, drills, and other pneumatic and electrical equipment. Construct and maintain fixtures related to production molds. Perform other departmental duties as requested by the Engineering Manager.
