Summary
The Quality Control Specialist is responsible for inspecting and testing materials and finished products to ensure they meet established standards of quality, safety, and performance. This role plays a critical part in supporting production by identifying defects, verifying compliance, and maintaining detailed inspection records. The Quality Control Specialist works closely with production, maintenance, and engineering teams to ensure every product leaving the facility meets ABG’s commitment to excellence.
Primary Responsibilities
- Inspect raw materials, in-process components, and finished products for quality and conformity to specifications.
- Perform visual, dimensional, and functional tests using measurement tools and gauges.
- Record inspection results accurately and maintain quality control logs and documentation.
- Tag, isolate, and document non-conforming materials or products for review and corrective action.
- Communicate findings and quality concerns to production supervisors and engineering teams.
- Conduct line checks to ensure proper setup, labeling, and adherence to process standards.
- Assist in identifying root causes of defects and participate in corrective/preventive action discussions.
- Support calibration and maintenance of inspection equipment and measurement tools.
- Participate in periodic audits and quality meetings to review trends and recommend improvements.
- Promote a safety-first culture and support continuous improvement efforts in product quality and process reliability.
Required Skills & Abilities
- Strong understanding of quality control methods, inspection tools, and testing procedures.
- Basic math, measurement, and blueprint reading skills.
- Detail-oriented with excellent observation and documentation abilities.
- Ability to work effectively on the production floor and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
- Familiarity with manufacturing safety standards and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
Education & Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Minimum of two (2) years of experience in quality control, inspection, or manufacturing production.
- Prior experience using calipers, micrometers, and other inspection tools preferred.
- Quality certifications such as ASQ Certified Quality Inspector (CQI) or CQT a plus.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, and reach throughout the shift.
- Comfortable working in a manufacturing environment with exposure to equipment, noise, and varying temperatures.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
