Job Summary
The Continuous Improvement Engineer plays a key role in transforming manufacturing performance by leading initiatives that increase throughput, enhance quality, and maximize equipment efficiency. This role directly impacts customer satisfaction, cost control, and plant productivity by identifying and implementing innovative process improvements. Working closely with production, maintenance, and engineering teams, the Continuous Improvement Engineer ensures that operational changes deliver measurable, sustainable results while fostering a culture of continuous improvement.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Identify and implement process improvements to increase efficiency in manufacturing operations for acrylic tubs and shower bases, including thermoforming, fiber and resin application, trimming, assembly, and packaging.
  • Recommend and execute process modifications to improve efficiencies in porcelain enamel tub production, including stamping, assembly, enameling, Americast rim injection molding, and packaging.
  • Scope, plan, execute, and implement cost savings (productivity) projects in both acrylic and metals manufacturing areas.
  • Optimize CNC saw programs using G-code and train operators on Fanuc robot pendent programming.
  • Discover and implement opportunities to reduce waste and increase efficiency using Lean, 5S, Kaizen, Six Sigma, and quality core tools.
  • Act as a change agent to facilitate smooth transitions from product development into manufacturing quality operations.
  • Maintain company quality procedures, standards, and specifications in coordination with operational staff.
  • Manage and complete assigned capital projects to improve manufacturing performance.
  • Support all plant environmental, health, and safety initiatives.
  • Review product and process critical-to-quality (CTQ) requirements to ensure compliance with customer, industry, and legal standards.
  • Define and track quality metrics, implement standard work, and manage quality inspections.
  • Lead problem-solving efforts for nonconforming products and raw materials that do not meet engineering specifications.
  • Work closely with operations teams to ensure smooth start-ups and continuity of management systems.
  • Analyze nonconforming products and materials, conduct root cause analysis, develop corrective actions, and drive continuous improvement.

Required Skills/Abilities

  • Proficiency in Lean manufacturing methodologies and Six Sigma tools.
  • Hands-on experience with CNC programming (G-code) and robotic programming (Fanuc preferred).
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to use data to drive decisions.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills for cross-functional collaboration.
  • Ability to lead projects from concept through implementation with minimal supervision.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Outlook, Word, etc.).
  • Knowledge of quality assurance processes and equipment optimization.
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or associate’s degree with equivalent experience required.
  • 2–5 years of applicable manufacturing experience required; 5+ years preferred.
  • Experience with Lean and Six Sigma methodologies preferred.
  • Previous exposure to continuous improvement and process optimization required.
  • Experience in CNC programming and robotic programming preferred.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, and work on the manufacturing floor for extended periods.
  • May require lifting up to 25 pounds occasionally.
  • Ability to work in a manufacturing environment with varying temperatures and noise levels.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $65,000.00 - $70,000.00 per year
