Inbound Warehouse Manager (Distribution Center)
Position Summary
We are seeking a highly capable and experienced operations leader to oversee all warehouse and distribution center functions, including inbound receiving, inventory management, order fulfillment, shipping, and team development. This role is responsible for ensuring operational efficiency, safety, and performance across all areas of the facility while fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement. The ideal candidate is self-motivated, able to think independently, and skilled at leading through others in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
Warehouse & Fulfillment Operations
- Oversee daily warehouse activities including receiving, storage, inventory control, order fulfillment, returns, and outbound shipping.
- Ensure accurate inventory levels and optimize space utilization.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe warehouse environment.
- Monitor and manage warehouse equipment, systems, and maintenance needs.
Fulfillment & Process Optimization
- Oversee order flow and labor scheduling to meet customer delivery expectations and service SLAs.
- Partner with supervisors and leads across different teams.
- Implement continuous improvement initiatives and lean warehousing practices.
- Monitor KPIs such as on-time shipping, accuracy, labor utilization, and cost-to-serve, driving accountability across teams.
Team Leadership & Development
- Supervise and develop warehouse staff, including leads and supervisors; manage hiring, training, and performance evaluations.
- Foster a culture of service, safety, and operational excellence.
- Conduct career planning and development discussions with direct reports.
- Lead by example, encouraging independent problem-solving and initiative at all levels.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Partner with internal departments including sales, logistics, order processing, customer service, and HR to ensure smooth end-to-end operations.
- Maintain clear communication channels across teams and facilities.
- Collaborate with corporate supply chain/procurement teams where vendor relationships impact warehouse operations.
Compliance & Safety
- Ensure adherence to OSHA and company safety policies.
- Manage environmental programs and initiatives in line with regulatory requirements.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Business Administration, or related field preferred.
- 5+ years of experience in warehouse, distribution center, or fulfillment management (multi-shift, 50+ employees).
- Strong leadership, team-building, and problem-solving skills; proven ability to hold teams accountable while developing talent.
- Self-motivated, independent thinker with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; experience with WMS, ERP, and reporting/forecasting systems required.
- Familiarity with ERP systems strongly preferred.
- Forklift operation experience and bilingual fluency (Spanish/English) are a plus.
