Tooling Leader

Job description:

Responsible for leading the Tooling Department in the construction of production molds, mold accessories, mold maintenance and repairs.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

• Construct pattern molds from wood, bando and other various materials per plans, blueprints, or drawings.
• Build production tools using basic tooling principles including waxing, gel coat, release agents and FRP laminate material. Some welding is required for production mold frames.
• Mix and apply materials as needed; requires thorough understanding of resin, catalyst, glass and bando mixing ratios and application techniques.
• Alter and maintain production molds using hand tools including sanders, grinders, saws, shaping tools, drills, and other pneumatic and electrical equipment.
• Construct and maintain fixtures related to production molds.
• Perform other departmental duties as requested by the Engineering Manager.

LEAD JOB FUNTIONS:

• Ensures that all environmental, health and safety policies and procedures are fully understood and followed to assure a safe environment for our team members and the public. (Including safety equipment)
• Helps team maintain a clean, clutter free work environment by a true 5’s.
• Learn and be able to run all processes on a given team.
• Ensures that team members understand and follow procedures, to maintain Quality Standards, Standardize Work, and process verifications.
• Monitors workflow and makes necessary adjustments to accomplish assigned tasks on time. Fills in for team members in cases of absenteeism to maintain schedule and quality standards.
• Monitors the training, re-training, and cross training of team members.
• Assures proper tools are available for associates and that they are in good working condition. Orders tooling supplies and necessary equipment.
• Notifies Engineering Manager when a team member is not meeting expectations.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

Knowledge - Requires basic knowledge acquired through high school or basic work experience. Needs to know how to accurately read a tape measure.

Mental - Requires normal attention with periods of high concentration intermittently to build tools.

Physical - Requires walking/standing 50 % and lifting a maximum of 50 lb. 5% of time; involves bending/stooping/crouching 50% of time.

Environmental - Requires capability of working in the tool room which involves dust, chemical fumes, and noise; may require use of respirator and protective clothing.

Manual Dexterity - Requires use of arms and hands to operate a variety of hand tools for safe and effective job performance.

Audible/Visual - Audible/Visual - Requires ability to visually determine rolling, sanding and repair procedures for effective job performance and ability to hear, read and write for accurate performance. Requires visual ability to read detail.

Schedule:

• 10 hour shift
• Day shift

Pay: $20.00 - $22.00 per hour
