Position Summary
Swan Surfaces is seeking a skilled Hydraulics/Maintenance Technician to join our team. In this role, you’ll ensure the safe, efficient operation of hydraulic presses and equipment used in the production of molded bathware. You’ll also perform mechanical, electrical, and preventative maintenance to keep our plant running at peak performance. This is a hands-on role where your expertise will directly support production, safety, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

Hydraulic Systems Oversight

  • Inspect, maintain, and repair hydraulic presses and related systems.
  • Troubleshoot pumps, valves, cylinders, hoses, and control systems.
  • Monitor equipment performance and recommend improvements for efficiency and reliability.
  • Maintain detailed records of repairs, inspections, and modifications.

General Maintenance

  • Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic equipment.
  • Support production lines, presses, and auxiliary equipment.
  • Assist with installations, upgrades, and equipment modifications.
  • Respond promptly to equipment breakdowns to minimize downtime.

Safety & Compliance

  • Follow and enforce all plant safety policies, including lockout/tagout and PPE requirements.
  • Ensure all work meets OSHA and company standards.
  • Participate in safety audits and training sessions.

Collaboration & Support

  • Work closely with production and engineering teams to minimize downtime.
  • Provide technical expertise on hydraulic systems.
  • Mentor and train maintenance team members on troubleshooting and repair techniques.

Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • Associate degree or technical certification in hydraulics, mechanical engineering, or related field preferred (equivalent experience considered).
  • 3–5 years of maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment, with a strong focus on hydraulic systems.
  • Experience with large hydraulic presses or similar industrial equipment preferred.

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong knowledge of hydraulic theory, troubleshooting, and repair.
  • Ability to read and interpret schematics, technical manuals, and engineering drawings.
  • Knowledge of electrical and pneumatic systems a plus.
  • Skilled in preventative maintenance planning and execution.
  • Strong problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills.

Work Environment & Physical Requirements

  • Manufacturing plant environment with frequent standing, bending, and lifting.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and work around hydraulic presses and varying temperature conditions.

Pay: $60,000.00 - $70,000.00 per year
