Position Summary

Swan Surfaces is seeking a motivated and dependable Shipping Lead to support daily shipping operations and help ensure customer orders are processed accurately, safely, and on time. This position provides day-to-day leadership within the shipping department while working closely with production, customer service, and warehouse personnel to maintain efficient material flow and shipment accuracy.

The ideal candidate will have strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to lead by example in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Shipping & Logistics

• Coordinate daily shipping activities to ensure on-time delivery of customer orders.
• Verify orders, shipping documentation, and product quantities for accuracy.
• Schedule and communicate with carriers regarding pickups and deliveries.
• Ensure products are properly packaged, labeled, and prepared for shipment.
• Monitor shipment status and address shipping issues as they arise.

Leadership & Team Support

• Provide guidance and direction to shipping personnel during daily operations.
• Assist with training new employees on shipping procedures and safety requirements.
• Promote teamwork, accountability, and adherence to company policies.
• Communicate production priorities and shipment schedules to team members.

Inventory & Documentation

• Maintain accurate shipping records and inventory transactions.
• Perform cycle counts and assist with inventory audits as needed.
• Utilize company systems to process shipments and maintain documentation.
• Investigate and resolve shipping discrepancies.

Safety & Continuous Improvement

• Follow all company safety policies and procedures.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
• Identify opportunities to improve shipping efficiency and accuracy.
• Participate in continuous improvement initiatives.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Previous shipping, warehouse, logistics, or manufacturing experience preferred.
• Prior leadership or lead experience is a plus.
• Forklift certification or ability to become certified.
• Basic computer skills and experience using inventory or shipping systems preferred.
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds regularly.
• Ability to bend, stoop, reach, and perform repetitive motions.
• Ability to work in a manufacturing environment with varying temperatures and noise levels.
