Loader/Unloader

Job Description

Summary

The Loader is responsible for safely and efficiently loading and unloading products, materials, and supplies for shipment using pallet jacks and other manual handling tools. This role ensures that goods are correctly identified, organized, and secured for shipment or storage while maintaining accuracy and timeliness.

Primary Responsibilities

· Load and unload products from trucks and trailers using manual pallet jacks and other non-powered material handling tools.

· Ensure loads are arranged securely and safely to prevent damage during transportation.

· Verify product identity, count, and condition against shipping documents such as pick lists or bills of lading.

· Stage and organize shipments based on delivery schedules and destination.

· Report discrepancies, damage, or shortages to supervisors promptly.

· Maintain accurate records of loaded shipments as required by department procedures.

· Assist with inventory rotation, cycle counts, and storage organization as needed.

· Keep work areas clean, safe, and organized in accordance with company safety policies.

· Follow established procedures for load handling, equipment use, and general warehouse safety.

· Communicate effectively with supervisors and team members to coordinate priorities and workflow.

· Perform additional duties as assigned to support shipping, receiving, or warehouse functions.

Required Skills/Abilities

· Proficiency using manual pallet jacks and basic knowledge of safe load handling practices.

· Attention to detail and commitment to accuracy when handling and verifying shipments.

· Basic reading and math skills to interpret shipping documentation.

· Ability to work efficiently both independently and in a team environment.

· Strong work ethic, reliability, and willingness to follow instructions and safety protocols.

· Forklift experience or certification is a plus but not required.

Education & Experience

· High school diploma or GED preferred.

· Previous experience in a loading, warehouse, or shipping/receiving role is preferred but not required.

· Willingness to train in warehouse procedures and safety practices.

Physical Requirements

· Ability to lift, push, pull, or carry up to 100 pounds regularly.

· Prolonged periods of standing, walking, bending, and reaching.

· Capable of working in a warehouse environment with varying temperatures, noise, and activity levels.

· Ability to use pallet jacks and other material handling tools throughout the shift.
