Build the Technical Foundation for Logistics

American Bath Group is seeking a Logistics Data & Systems Specialist to help turn fragmented data, disconnected systems, and manual logistics workflows into trusted, reusable systems, automation, and data products.

This is a hands-on build role for someone who can move from an ambiguous operational problem to a practical technical solution — mapping sources, designing data structures and integrations, building, testing, validating with users, and leaving behind supportable documentation and controls.

The mandate is straightforward:

Own how Logistics data is sourced, modeled, automated, and maintained — creating a stable technical foundation that removes manual work and makes future analytics and automation scalable.

Location and Schedule

This position is onsite in Jackson, Tennessee.

Candidates should either:

  • Currently live in the Jackson, Tennessee area;
  • Already be planning to relocate to the Jackson area; or
  • Be willing to relocate to Jackson for the opportunity.

This position does not qualify for a relocation incentive or relocation assistance. Candidates requiring relocation must be prepared to relocate at their own expense.

The position operates on a standard 40-hour workweek, with a typical start time between approximately 8:00 AM, with flexibility based on operational needs.

No required travel is expected, although occasional optional travel may arise.

What You Will Build and Own

The Logistics Data & Systems Specialist sits at the intersection of operational logistics, data engineering, business systems, and practical automation.

Map and Connect the Data Landscape

Identify how major logistics, TMS, ERP, fleet, carrier, financial, and operational data sources fit together.

You will help determine:

  • Where critical data originates;
  • How systems and sources connect;
  • Where data-quality gaps or inconsistencies exist;
  • Which data should become governed, reusable assets; and
  • How those sources should support future reporting, analytics, and automation.

Build Pipelines, Models, and Data Products

Develop and maintain technical patterns that move priority datasets into reliable, reusable structures.

The goal is not simply to create another report. The goal is to build a technical foundation that can support reporting, analytics, automation, and future business needs without recreating the same work repeatedly.

Automate Recurring Work

Identify and reduce avoidable manual effort across areas such as:

  • Planning;
  • Dispatch;
  • Diagramming;
  • Reporting; and
  • Administrative logistics workflows.

The expectation is to move meaningful automation beyond ideas or maintenance and into testing, adoption, and production where appropriate.

Validate Against Operational Reality

A technically correct result is not automatically an operationally correct result.

You will work with frontline users and business stakeholders to test technical outputs against how the work actually happens, confirm assumptions, identify source or process changes, and make sure solutions work in practice.

Build Supportability Into the Solution

Successful solutions should not depend permanently on the person who created them.

You will establish and maintain:

  • Source mappings;
  • Data-quality controls;
  • Technical documentation;
  • Reusable integration patterns;
  • Monitoring and validation practices; and
  • Recovery and support procedures.

Own Intake and Execution Discipline

This role requires more than technical execution.

You will be expected to:

  • Prioritize assigned work;
  • Turn larger initiatives into defined phases and tasks;
  • Manage deadlines and dependencies;
  • Communicate risks early;
  • Maintain visibility to progress; and
  • Keep roadmap commitments clearly identified as on-track or at-risk.

What Success Looks LikeCentralize and Stabilize Logistics Data

Major TMS, ERP, fleet, carrier, financial, and operational sources are mapped, and priority datasets begin moving into governed, reusable pipelines and models with appropriate refresh and data-quality controls.

Remove Meaningful Manual Work

Planning, dispatch, diagramming, reporting, and administrative automation advances into testing, adoption, or production, with clear evidence that recurring manual steps are being reduced.

Create a Scalable Technical Operating Model

Source mappings, data-quality checks, documentation, reusable integration patterns, and support/recovery procedures become part of how the work is executed.

Deliver Against the Roadmap

Assigned work moves through a visible intake and roadmap process. Larger initiatives are broken into phases, tasks, and deadlines, and progress or risks remain visible to stakeholders.

First Six Months

Early proof points for the person entering this role include:

  • Inventorying and mapping major data sources and known quality gaps;
  • Establishing an initial technical backlog connected to logistics priorities;
  • Moving priority datasets into governed, reusable patterns with validation and monitoring;
  • Advancing meaningful automation beyond maintenance and into testing, adoption, or production; and
  • Routing assigned work through the established intake and roadmap operating structure.

Success will be measured through delivery, adoption, controls, supportability, and visible progress against the roadmap rather than through one predetermined global numeric target.

Required Qualifications and CapabilitiesPower BI and Excel

Power BI and Excel are required foundations for this role.

We are looking for someone who can use these tools as part of a broader data and systems problem-solving workflow — not someone whose experience is limited to consuming existing reports or dashboards.

Personal Authorship

You should be able to describe work that you personally carried from an ambiguous system, data, or process problem through areas such as:

The expectation is to own the technical path from source and process understanding through build, testing, validation, adoption, documentation, and supportability.

Role Boundary

The Logistics Data & Systems Specialist owns what data is sourced and how it is modeled, automated, and maintained.

The Freight Analyst owns what needs to be measured, why it matters, how results should be interpreted, and what business action should follow.

This separation allows the Specialist to focus on building the technical foundation while the Freight Analyst focuses on freight-business analysis.

Experience Level

There is no predetermined years-of-experience requirement for this position.

Demonstrated capability, personal authorship, technical problem-solving, and the ability to build and support practical solutions are more important than imposing an arbitrary years-of-experience threshold.

Interview Process

Step 1 — Recruiter Screen
Initial discussion covering Power BI and Excel experience, a personally authored systems/process example, communication, and learning agility.

Step 2 — Virtual Hiring-Leader Interview
Deeper discussion of technical reasoning, source and model design, validation approach, prioritization, and ownership.

Step 3 — In-Person Final Interview
Discussion focused on work ethic, practical operating style, communication, team fit, and how you approach the working environment.
