Packaging, Finishing, or Production Supervisor
CLASSIFICATION
Hourly, non-exempt
SHIFT
First and Second shift; overtime and schedule changes based on production needs.
Position Summary
Complete the final physical protection and identification of approved AKER bathware so the correct product reaches finished-goods storage and the customer clean, undamaged, complete, and traceable. Provide flexible support across the packaging area without bypassing final inspection or quality-hold controls.
Where the Role Fits in the Manufacturing Process
The role follows trimming, repair, cleaning, and final quality acceptance. The Boxer Utility verifies product status, installs required protective materials and accessory packs, closes or secures packaging, applies labels, and routes packaged units to finished goods while supporting line balance. Utility work includes trained rotation into nearby inspection support, material replenishment, cleanup, and line-support assignments.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Review the production schedule, packaging specification, model and color identification, accessory requirements, and priority orders at the start of the assignment.
- Confirm that each unit carries required final-quality release or approved status before packaging. Hold and escalate units with missing or conflicting status.
- Perform the assigned pre-pack visual check for cleanliness, surface damage, trim quality, labels, completeness, and correct model and color. Packaging does not replace Quality approval.
- Stage the correct carton, sleeve, bag, film, pad, foam, corner protector, skid, hardware kit, instruction packet, and labels for the model-specific packaging method.
- Handle finished units using approved carts, fixtures, lift assists, suction aids, team-lift methods, and clean contact surfaces to prevent scratches, chips, distortion, or contamination.
- Install protective materials at designated contact points and secure loose components and accessory packs according to the packaging standard.
- Form, wrap, close, tape, staple, strap, band, fasten, or otherwise secure packaging using authorized tools and the model-specific method.
- Apply and verify product, order, serial or lot, barcode, orientation, handling, quality, and customer-specific labels in the required location and orientation.
- Accurately scan or record completed units, packaging material usage, shortages, holds, damage, and production counts.
- Route packaged units to the correct rack, pallet, conveyor, staging lane, or finished-goods location without mixing orders or damaging adjacent product.
- Replenish packaging materials, labels, hardware kits, and consumables using first-in, first-out or version controls where required. Prevent use of obsolete or incorrect packaging.
- Provide trained utility coverage for cleaning, inspection support, material movement, label printing, workstation relief, and adjacent tasks assigned by the supervisor.
- Segregate damaged packaging or suspect finished product and notify the lead, supervisor, Quality, or warehouse contact promptly.
- Maintain clean product-contact surfaces, clear aisles, controlled blades, fasteners and banding, organized materials, and an orderly shift handoff.
Quality Expectations
- Package only released product. Match model, color, order, labels, hardware, and instructions.
- Protect specified surfaces, corners, plumbing features, and accessories without pressure damage or contamination.
- Ensure packages are secure, readable, correctly oriented, and routed to the correct finished-goods location.
- Contain and document packaging or product defects rather than hiding them inside the package.
Typical Tools and Equipment
- Packaging fixtures, carts, lift assists, suction aids, conveyors, pallet jacks, and approved material-handling devices.
- Tape dispensers, strapping or banding tools, staplers, fasteners, approved safety knives, and wrapping equipment.
- Barcode scanners, label printers, scales when assigned, computers, travelers, and production-reporting systems.
- Cleaning supplies and protective packaging materials approved for contact with AcrylX-finished products.
Authorization: Operate only tools, equipment, chemicals, lift assists, and powered machinery covered by completed plant training and authorization. Lockout/tagout and maintenance work remain within assigned authorization.
Safety and Personal Protective Equipment
Follow site safety rules, standard work, ventilation, guarding, traffic controls, housekeeping practices, and task-specific training. Use PPE required by the site hazard assessment, safety data sheets, exposure monitoring, hearing data, machine assessments, and written safety programs.
