Spray Gun Operator Job Summary

MAAX is seeking a dependable and detail-oriented Spray Gun Operator to join our manufacturing team. This role is responsible for applying polyester resin, catalyst, and gelcoat materials onto molds using specialized spray equipment while following standard work processes, quality standards, and safety procedures.

The ideal candidate will have experience in manufacturing, industrial painting, fiberglass production, composites, automotive finishing, or spray application processes. Candidates must be safety-focused, capable of working in a fast-paced environment, and comfortable standing for extended periods.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate spray guns to apply polyester resin, catalyst, and gelcoat materials onto molds
  • Follow standard operating procedures and production schedules
  • Maintain proper spray thickness and application techniques to meet quality specifications
  • Perform routine cleaning and maintenance of spray equipment and tools
  • Inspect materials and finished products for quality and consistency
  • Maintain a safe and organized work area
  • Wear required PPE including respirators and safety equipment
  • Read and interpret production instructions and work orders
  • Work collaboratively with production team members and supervisors
  • Meet daily productivity and quality expectations
  • Assist with additional production duties as assigned

QualificationsRequired Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED preferred
  • Previous manufacturing, industrial, fiberglass, composites, painting, or spray application experience preferred
  • Ability to read and understand work instructions and safety procedures
  • Strong attention to detail and quality standards
  • Ability to distinguish between colors and shading variations
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills
  • Ability to learn new processes and adapt to production needs
  • Reliable attendance and punctuality

Physical Requirements

Candidates must be able to:

  • Stand or walk continuously on concrete flooring for up to a 10-hour shift
  • Frequently bend, stoop, reach, and lift throughout the shift
  • Reach above shoulder level and below waist level for extended periods
  • Wear respirators and other required personal protective equipment
  • Successfully complete a respirator medical questionnaire, physical, and FIT test
  • Be clean-shaven to ensure a proper respirator seal in compliance with safety requirements
  • Work in a manufacturing environment with exposure to industrial materials and odors

Preferred Skills

  • Experience with spray guns or industrial coating equipment
  • Fiberglass manufacturing experience
  • Industrial painting or gelcoat experience
  • Knowledge of resin and catalyst materials
  • Lean manufacturing or continuous improvement experience
  • Mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills

Work Environment

This position works in a manufacturing production facility where employees may be exposed to fiberglass materials, industrial chemicals, noise, and varying temperatures. Safety procedures and PPE requirements must be followed at all times.
