2. Position Summary and Primary Mandate

The Wet Trimmer removes excess fiberglass reinforcement and resin-bearing laminate along designated

mold boundaries during the approved wet-laminate stage of bathware production. Using authorized

trimming tools and current work instructions, the operator creates a consistent, acceptable edge while

preserving required reinforcement, mold surfaces, product geometry, and other critical features.

The role supports the flow from fiberglass layup and rolling into curing, demolding, and downstream

finishing. The Wet Trimmer verifies model-specific trim locations, works within the appropriate material

condition and process window, identifies potential quality or safety problems, controls fiberglass/resin scrap,

and communicates abnormalities before additional units are affected.

3. Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Pre-Shift and Workstation Readiness

1. Review assigned production models, work instructions, mold or fixture identification, trim references,

current quality alerts, and the expected line sequence.

2. Inspect approved knives, shears, blades, guards, work surfaces, scrap containers, and the nearby mold movement area before starting work.

3. Confirm that the preceding fiberglass layup and rolling work is complete for the assigned area and that

each mold is at the appropriate point in the trimming process.

4. Check the condition of the laminate and follow the authorized procedure when material is too soft,

tacky, or advanced in cure for an acceptable cut.

Wet Trimming and Product Protection

5. Identify model-specific trim boundaries around outer perimeters, corners, sidewalls, ledges, flanges,

and other designated areas using approved references.

6. Cut or shear excess fiberglass strands, laminate overhang, and resin-bearing flashing using controlled,

repeatable techniques.

7. Preserve reinforcement required around flanges, corners, drain and attachment areas, bases, and other

specified structural features.

8. Maintain correct cutting direction, hand position, body posture, and tool control; avoid pulling,

dragging, or distorting the laminate.

9. Protect mold surfaces, release edges, applied finishes, attachment locations, and the intended shape of

the product.

10. Coordinate the timing and sequence of work with chop-gun, layup, and Roller Operators to avoid

interference with material placement and consolidation.

Quality Inspection and Production Documentation

11. Inspect finished trim against current model-specific requirements for correct edge condition,

completeness, and absence of unauthorized cuts.

12. Recognize and report over-trim, unremoved overhang, displaced reinforcement, folds, bridging, poor

wet-out, void indicators, excessive resin buildup, or abnormal material behavior.

13. Stop, identify, and contain suspected nonconforming units or mold damage according to plant quality

and hold procedures.

14. Complete assigned production counts, first-piece or in-process checks, hold tags, scrap reasons,

downtime entries, and model-changeover records.

15. Release the work to curing or the next designated operation only after applicable trim and product acceptance criteria are satisfied.

Safety, Housekeeping, Equipment Care, and Handoffs

16. Segregate and dispose of resin-bearing fiberglass scrap, used blades, contaminated rags, and other

waste using plant-approved containers and methods.

17. Maintain clear aisles, work areas, mold travel zones, emergency access, and safe walking surfaces

throughout the shift.

18. Use only tools, fixtures, cleaning methods, and equipment covered by completed training and plant

authorization.
